SDF is delighted to have Julie Heslin McCartney join the SDF management team today in the post of Director of Operations. Julie has previously engaged with SDF and its work in various capacities.
Julie joins us from the Scottish Ambulance Service where, as Clinical Effectiveness Lead – Drug Harm Reduction, she has been heavily involved in the expansion of the provision of take-home naloxone to people at risk of overdose. Previously, Julie delivered and managed third sector drug treatment and harm reduction services in Edinburgh.
Kirsten Horsburgh, SDF Chief Executive Officer, welcomes Julie’s appointment, ‘Julie has a track record of commitment and delivery for vulnerable people. Her commitment to reducing harm and delivering services makes her an ideal person to support SDF’s operational work. Julie was a member of the SDF Board of Directors and has contributed inputs at various SDF events. She is a familiar face who is welcome addition to the staff and management teams. I look forward to working closely with her.’
Julie is pleased to be taking up post. “I am keen to get started – this post is key to the delivery of SDF’s work programme which is hugely varied. I am keen to support SDF in consolidating these programmes and expanding the work areas. Delivery is key to making a difference and improving directly and indirectly the lives of people affected by drug problems.”
