Assessment and Development Worker, SDF Learning Centre

Mary has worked in drug treatment and support services for over 13 years as a Community Mental Health and Substance Use Nurse in various areas including prison and custody settings, community substance use services, third sector organisations, harm reduction services and the Scottish Ambulance Service.

 

Mary has also worked in substance use education as a Lecturer in Mental Health and Substance Use at Robert Gordon University,  and as a Substance Use Tutor for the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP). Mary is a qualified SVQ Assessor and worked with SDF to achieve the Assessor qualification as an Associate SVQ Assessor in late 2022.  Mary secured a role as SVQ Assessment and Development Worker with the SDF Learning Centre in January 2024, and supports Candidates recruited to SDF’s award winning National Traineeship to achieve Social Services and Healthcare qualifications.  Mary has completed a Masters in Substance Use exploring the experiences of families affected by alcohol and drugs and is currently undertaking a Professional Doctorate at Stirling University in Substance Use.
