Brendan Dougan

Co-ordination and Development Officer, National Traineeship

Brendan joined the team in March 2024 to develop and coordinate the National Traineeship in Highland. Brendan supports the expansion of the programme in the region, building on the package of supported employment, specialist training and vocational learning to trainees. Additionally, Brendan hopes to diversify the programme pathways, placements and partnerships to reflect both the needs of trainees and the unique attributes of northern Scottish geography.

Originally from Nairn on the Moray coast, Brendan studied and lived in Aberdeen and then Glasgow where he gained over a decade of experience in a range of social care work.

After taking a break to teach in Taiwan over 2015, Brendan returned to the Highlands and has since developed experience as a care manager, project coordinator and programme manager between voluntary and statutory sector settings. He is also a mountain biking enthusiast and volunteer pilot for a local blind and visually impaired tandem club, in addition to being a keen cycle mechanic and cook.
