Harm reduction innovations under lockdown discussed in latest Drugs Uncut episode

The latest episode of ‘Drugs Uncut’ – the Scottish Drugs Forum podcast – has been published and is available to listen to for free online or on your favourite podcast app.

The COVID-19 lockdown has led to harm reduction services having to adapt to find ways of maintaining provision and support to people who rely on them.

In this episode, the second looking at responses to the outbreak, we are joined by Sophie Given, Scottish Drugs Forum’s Officer for Harm Reduction and Emergency Responses, to find out how the lockdown is impacting on people’s access to harm reduction services, such as sterile injecting equipment, and how services are adapting through innovation and collaboration.

During the episode, Sophie discusses the COVID-19 drug, alcohol and needle exchange updates database and map that has been set up in collaboration with Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol and Drugs (SFAD) and We Are With You. She also highlights the ‘Let’s give bacteria the boot’ booklet and the ‘COVID-19 and people who inject drugs’ information flyer.
