Figures published in August 2003 showed that drug deaths in Scotland rocketed to a record high of 382 in 2002 – up by 50 from 2001 and a leap of 138 from the 1996 figure.
Scottish Drugs Forum's Seminar on 10 December 2003 - “Looking Behind the Statistics” - looked at some of the facts of, highlighted the challenges in and offered some solutions for, trying to reducing this tragic loss of life.
