SCOTTISH Drugs Forum has been awarded coveted EPASS accreditation by the Royal College of General Practitioners (Scotland), enabling it to provide high-quality training for GPs and other primary care professionals
SDF has passed stringent criteria to be licensed by the RCGP’s EPASS (Educational Providers Accreditation Scheme Scotland), a training scheme which ensures that all EPASS-badged events are of a high quality and relevant to the educational needs of primary health care professionals.
RCGP says that GPs are more aware of the importance of quality Continuing Professional Development than ever before, particularly now with GP appraisal and revalidation.
standards
“EPASS allows providers of educational events who want to gain recognition for their commitment to quality education, the ability to offer training and education at a local level, but to standards that have been benchmarked and agreed nationally,” says RCGP.
“It provides assurance to GPs that the activities they undertake and the events they attend, are of a high quality and are relevant to their learning needs.
“Delegates can feel confident that the education they are receiving from an EPASS accredited activity is of a high standard.”
Quality assurance checks are carried out at random by RCGP Scotland to ensure that EPASS events are held in accordance with the criteria set out in the License and Accreditation Agreement and meet the educational needs of General Practitioners.
Hundreds of post-graduate educational activities were EPASS accredited throughout Scotland last year alone, says RCGP.
