Senior Officer, National Quality Devlelopment
Jen joined SDF at the beginning of 2016 as Senior Officer with the National Quality Development Team, supporting the development of alcohol and drugs services. After gaining a degree in Behavioural Science, Jen started her career in secure and residential care, supporting looked after and accommodated young people and then moved to Aberdeen and joined the voluntary sector, during which time she completed a PG Diploma in Counselling and subsequently trained as a Practice Supervisor for individuals and groups.
During her time working in the North East, Jen delivered and developed therapeutic services for young people and adults experiencing mental ill health, drug and alcohol problems and homelessness and worked as a Tutor with Aberdeen University delivering COSCA Counselling Skills modules. In 2011, Jen moved to Glasgow to take up the post of Head of Client Services with Glasgow Council on Alcohol (GCA). During her time with GCA, she was responsible for developing and maintaining a variety of services including tenancy support, counselling, group work and criminal justice services.
Jen has worked in partnership with Survivor Scotland since 2005, securing funding while in post in Aberdeen and again while with GCA, supporting both agencies to provide trauma-informed services.
