User Involvement Development Officer

Over the years Joan has had an number of roles within SDF. Initially employed as a User Involvement Officer in 2003 then she was a National Training and Development Officer for two years. In the last decade the focus of her work was with the National Quality Development team leading work across Alcohol and Drug Partnership Areas to map and analyse their Recovery Oriented Systems of Care as well as carrying out service evaluations.

Joan returned to SDF to lead on a national peer research project with a focus on Medication Assisted Treatment Standards.

Educated to MSc level in Development Management, her area of interest is in how to use this approach to improve quality of service using research and identifying current best practice.

She is passionate about providing research finding in accessible formats for service users. Joan’s area of interest is in access to services and support for women.
